Most of the time people complains about everything in lists and forums. this time I wanted to give my good feedback after an issue with altomusic.com (I'm not related to this company whatsoever.) I've purchased a ATC-X Quad Filter, that was a in demo at altomusic.com at a very good price. It was supposed to be quad filter but in fact only had the Mini filter inside. It was a bit tricky, because the seller had to open the box to check if the quad filter was inside or not, so the error was not intentionnal. Today I've received the Quad Filter card from Altomusic.com at no fee, Bobby at altomusic has been very comprehensive and responsive. So just in case, I wanted to give a ***** review for this shop and their support. They are very honest and professionnal, specifically for Internationnal customers like me. Note : I'm located in Europe, far way from Altomusic NY shop, and they sent the Quad Filter by Fedex, filling the custom paper perfectly to avoid to pay the taxes a second time. |
I swear by ALTO Music in NY. I live in FL but deal with them exclusively. I just got my Nocaster from them and it was set up great....they are fair with prices and great on service....Phil in guitars is a great setup guy as well. |

Hi .. I was going to write an actual letter to you but I figured this is quicker ..... My son Michael and I ( he's 13 .. ) came to your store about 2 weeks ago to browse around. We are from Central New Jersey. It took us about 2 hours or so to get to your store. We heard about your store from Gibson Guitars in Nashville. I wanted you to know that it was definitely worth the trip. Your store is great .... You have lots of items and they are all top quality too. I was surprised that you even had a Hammond Organ. Most stores do not carry them. You get an A plus for that. My son and I browsed your guitars. My son is only 13 but has been playing for 4 1/2 years and is really quite good. I am a bass player ( we get no respect) and have 11 bass guitars myself, mostly vintage ones ... He has had his eye on a Gibson SG for quite some time ... To make a long story short, we bought a Gibson Reissue 1961 SG Standard one from you that day, and note that we had no intention of buying when we came up to your store. Your price was too good to pass up. Also, and I MUST mention this, Phil Keller was very helpful and very nice to us too, especially my son. He treated him as though Eric Clapton had just walked into Manny's Music on 48th street in NYC. Phil not only was very nice, he is extremely knowledgeable too. He and I talked about vintage stuff and he knows what he is talking about. He gets an A plus too !!!! Please let him know how much we appreciated meeting and dealing with him. We will probably come up to your store again in the fall when the leaves change color, to browse around and see what is new in your store . It would make for a nice day trip. I have no idea how you did it, but I have the cards in my handright now. That's right - about 13 hours after you mailed it from Middletown NY, the Fed Ex box arrived at my door in Shell Beach CA. This is like a Christmas miracle or something! I am completely stunned. And ecstatic, of course! :) I can't wait to try out the cards. My long hours end on Thursday (tomorrow), and then I'll be working in my studio for about three weeks, working up fresh material with the new sound cards. Alto Music of Middletown, NY, is my favorite music store on the planet. I'm fortunate enough to live less than an hour away from them. The showroom is outstanding, and the help is.. well.. helpful, especially Chris from keyboards, who is a genuinely nice guy who knows his stuff and never tries to "oversell" it. Alto is consistently right on the price vs all the major chains, reducing the need to haggle. |

Dear Mr. Haber: I want to take this time to share my experience as a customer of your Middletown store. I have bought a number of guitars at both your Wappingers and Middletown stores. Shopping at the Middletown has always been a superb experience, due to Gary, your store manager, and his friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff. It is a comfortable store, where musicians feel at home. Gary himself, has patiently taken the time to share his knowledge and opinions when I was torn between different instruments. I believe Gary's management style and values are reflected in the customer satisfaction centered attitude of his staff. I have never encountered a single person with a negative. That is unbelievably refreshing. As a fairly high ranking military retiree, over the years, I have encountered more than my share of people with less than positive attitudes. But whenever I am in the Middletown store, all I observe are young people who are not only serious about their work, but also seem to genuinely enjoy that work. Most notable of those young people is Richie Ogden. He is mature beyond his years, goes the extra mile for his customers, and is able to interact with older adults in a way that many his age find difficult. I am an older customer, with children older than Richie and hope that my children earn the respect of older adults, as Richie has mine. Richie is the primary reason I am a dedicated Alto Music customer. I would also like to express my appreciation to Dan Ruoti, who only yesterday patiently helped me with my selection of a Taylor guitar for my youngest daughter. Dan also perfectly fits the Alto Middletown mold of friendly, knowledgeable, helpful service. Thanks for helping me pick the perfect gift for her, Dan. Lastly, I do not mean to minimize your role in this outstanding store. I have to assume that a positive corporate attitude starts with you at the top, and that Gary passes that down to his staff. Just to let you know I met some Video/ Audio sales guy at The AICE Awards show last week and he was bragging on how great his prices are and there know one beats them. I said have you heard of a place called Alto Music? He right away passed it off as a small time operation. I told him no these guys are a huge retail store and are a big competitor to all music stores around the country. He then said "Well they must have small overhead, I said Their store is bigger then one of the Chelsea Peir's Peir. A little exaggeration, but not to far off. This once small family owned business has blosommed into a two-store chain with a recently expanded mega-store. They know customer service....They had my Triton Extreme 76 in my hands 1 week after they started shipping. Great Service, Great Prices, Great People, and on-site repair that is awesome. As a working musician, if any of my equipment fails, they will repair it quickly and provide me with a loaner or find me a loaner for my next gig. Hello Jon, I came in last week to see Phil Keller and stopped to say hello to you and say what a good fellow I thought you had found with Phil. You remembered when I recounted my first meeting with Alto of Middletown as a result of an eBay amp purchase a few years ago. I'm writing to you today to say I wasn't just 'blowing smoke'. In fact, last Thursday I had come up to your store thinking it was time to get back to basics, leave the 15 electrics I have hang on the wall for a while, and get an acoustic guitar. Phil was so helpful and focused on me getting the right guitar, he stayed 45 minutes past his working day. He could easily have left me in the hands of another employee, who I suspect would have done a fine job too. But I thought you should know, he goes the distance for his people.
