In the synth world, it simply doesn’t get much more classic. Few synths played such a vital role in the popular music of the mid-to-late 1970s, and indeed, none better represents the “eminent”

string sounds of the Studio 54 era. As technology entered the digital age, the unmistakable analog generated, chorus-washed orchestral sounds used by Pink Floyd, Parliament, Elton John, Rick James--and countless Disco era classics-- were lost to time until now.

Behringer has done it again with the “Solina.”--Not just a digital reproduction or modern likeness--but a faithful reproduction of original ARP/Eminent Solina MK II circuitry. For the first time since 1981, the Solina String Ensemble delivers the unique sounds, effects, quirks, and player experience of the celebrated, early polyphonic “orchestrator.” Reborn in a modular, rack-mountable package, Solia features an extensive suite of connectivity options for seamless integration, including MIDI In/Thru, Gate and Trigger outputs, modulation I/O, phase shifter I/O, and VCA CV input.

Apart from the convenience of modern connectivity, the rest is “pure Disco,” from the lush strings and brass tones, 49-tone old-school “divide-down” Analog architecture, and sparse control layout. Quickly call up any combination of monophonic Contrabass and Cello or polyphonic Viola, Violin, Trumpet, and French Horn presets. Of course, Behringer also included the infamous onboard effects that add so much authenticity--including the notorious chorus and a phase shifter based on the venerable Small Stone stomp box. 4 slider switches give you independent control over Bass and overall volume, plus sustain and volume swelling crescendos—topping off an affordable, authentic and essential string ensemble solution that’s never gone out of style.
