The Synyster Sound of Schecter

The Synyster Sound of Schecter

Back to blog

In the past two decades, Avenged Sevenfold has cemented their status as a renowned name in the heavy metal genre. Their albums have consistently pushed boundaries, blending aggressive and melodic sounds while showcasing their evolution. From the metalcore masterpiece, "Waking the Fallen," to the epic rock sound of "City of Evil," and the intriguing progressiveness of "The Stage," to their latest groundbreaking album, "Life is But A Dream," Avenged Sevenfold has continuously redefined their capabilities.

Amidst the band's ongoing evolution, one thing remains constant—guitarist Synyster Gates' unwavering loyalty to Schecter guitars, specifically his iconic custom Synyster Model. When we listen to the epic riffs in their timeless track "Unholy Confessions," followed by the mesmerizing solos in "Beast and the Harlot," "The Wicked End," and "Almost Easy," our minds conjure the image of that classic model with its black finish adorned by grey or red stripes, or the white finish with gold stripes. Just like the band's iconic Death Bat logo, a skull with bat wings, Synyster Gates' custom Schecter model holds a significant image in defining the essence of Avenged Sevenfold.

While its distinctive appearance sets it apart, the sound produced by this extraordinary guitar is incomparable. The precision tuning is facilitated by the 18:1 Grover Rotomatic tuners, ensuring impeccable accuracy. Moreover, the Floyd Rose tremolo at the bridge enables players to explore mind-bending techniques.

The Schecter Custom S Model delivers enhanced sustain, thanks to its Sustainiac Driver, which stimulates active vibration. The Sustainiac circuit amplifies the pickup signal and feeds it into the driver, converting the signal into vibrational energy that resonates back into the strings. Manipulating the harmonics of controlled sustain is possible with the two mini switches provided for this purpose.
