Epiphone and Gibson Custom unveil a premier Les Paul Custom

Epiphone, in partnership with Gibson Custom, proudly announces the addition of a new Les Paul™ Custom to the Inspired by Gibson Custom Collection. Originally introduced in 1954 at the request of Les Paul himself, the Custom was designed as a more refined take on his namesake model, with an aesthetic that he described as resembling a tuxedo.

The first versions were offered in Black, followed by White, and later expanded to include additional finishes. Over the years, construction details have evolved—early examples featured all-mahogany bodies for a warm, mid-focused tone, while later iterations adopted a mahogany body with a maple cap, similar to the Les Paul Standard, for added brightness, clarity, and attack. Signature elements such as block inlays, the split diamond headstock design, and extensive binding have remained hallmarks of the model since its inception.

The Inspired by Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom carries on this legacy of sophistication. It features a solid mahogany body topped with maple for tonal balance, accented by multi-ply binding on both the top and back.

A one-piece mahogany neck with a Modern Medium C profile joins the body via a long neck tenon, enhancing sustain and stability. The bound ebony fretboard—a defining feature of the Custom—offers 22 medium jumbo frets and mother-of-pearl block inlays.

Its five-ply bound headstock, shaped in the classic Gibson open-book style, is fitted with Grover® Rotomatic® tuners, a Graph Tech® nut, and showcases the Epiphone logo alongside the iconic split diamond inlay. At the opposite end, a LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and LockTone Stop Bar provide rock-solid intonation and sustain.

Premium electronics complete the package, including hand-wired Gibson USA 490R and 498T humbuckers™, CTS® controls, Mallory™ capacitors, and Switchcraft® components for the toggle switch and output jack.

Each guitar ships in a black hardshell case featuring an Inspired by Gibson Custom logo and a plush goldenrod interior for secure transport.
