A cult classic reborn in baritone form
Following the successful debut of the refreshed Gibson Victory lineup in 2024, the series has quickly resonated with both contemporary players and devotees of the 80s-era cult favorite. The Victory and Victory Figured Top soon emerged as two of the lineup’s standout models, and Gibson is now proud to broaden the family further with the arrival of the Victory Baritone.
Engineered with the same spirit of boundless creativity that defines every Victory model, the Victory Baritone stays true to the character of the original 80s designs while introducing an expanded Baritone scale. This extended range opens the door to deeper frequencies, offering players a compelling new tonal space that sits squarely between a traditional electric guitar and a standard bass.
At its core is a double-cutaway mahogany body featuring updated Victory contours for enhanced comfort and balance. The glued-in mahogany neck measures 28” in scale length, sports a Rounded profile for a familiar feel, and is topped with a compound radius ebony fretboard. Twenty-four medium jumbo frets and acrylic dot inlays complete the playing surface, while the classic Explorer™-style headstock is fitted with a Graph Tech® nut and Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners to ensure dependable tuning stability.
Chrome-plated hardware rounds out the design, including a fully adjustable Tune-O-Matic™ bridge for precise action and intonation control and a Stop Bar tailpiece. In contrast to the standard Victory models, the Victory Baritone omits a pickguard entirely, with the electronics mounted from the rear to maintain a clean, streamlined appearance.
Electronics are anchored by a pair of newly developed Gibson Elev8 humbucking pickups. Outfitted with Alnico 8 magnets and custom-gauge wiring, they deliver assertive, focused output while preserving clarity, articulation, and dynamic response. Push-pull master volume and tone controls enable coil splitting and inner or outer coil selection when split, and a three-way pickup selector provides access to an expansive mix of humbucking and single-coil tones with an intuitive control layout.
From the craftory, the Victory Baritone ships strung with .013-.062” light gauge baritone strings and tuned B to B, yielding a lower register and a thick, authoritative voice well suited to modern styles and heavier genres. It is an ideal choice for players interested in exploring the tonal territory between standard guitar tuning and bass. A Gibson hardshell case is included with every Gibson Victory Baritone to help protect the instrument during transport.
